vtrac
I'm trying to install Gimp.app and OpenOffice, but they both depend on X11. I installed X11 from my 10.4.5 CD after I upgraded to 10.4.6, which seemed to work fine (the X11 install from apple.com didn't work). However, when I run an X11 application, it starts for 2-3 seconds and then X11 freezes (I have to kill X11), taking down gimp/OO and even XTerm. However, XTerm by itself seems to run without any problems. I've tried installing xorg through darwin ports, but I get this: DEBUG: Found port in file:///opt/local/var/db/dports/sources/rsync.rsync.darwinports.org_dpupdate_dports/x11/xorgDEBUG: Changing to port directory: /opt/local/var/db/dports/sources/rsync.rsync.darwinports.org_dpupdate_dports/x11/xorg DEBUG: Requested variant i386 is not provided by port xorg. DEBUG: Requested variant macosx is not provided by port xorg. DEBUG: Executing variant darwin provides darwin DEBUG: Skipping completed com.apple.main (xorg) DEBUG: Skipping completed com.apple.unarchive (xorg) ---> Fetching xorg DEBUG: Executing proc-pre-com.apple.fetch-fetch-0 Hi, my name is xorg I am broken and looking for someone to fix me What can I say ? I've also tried compiling xorg from source, but I get this: checking Whether to build documentation... nochecking Whether to build pdf documentation... no checking for LBXUTIL... configure: error: The pkg-config script could not be found or is too old. Make sure it is in your PATH or set the PKG_CONFIG environment variable to the full path to pkg-config. Alternatively, you may set the environment variables LBXUTIL_CFLAGS and LBXUTIL_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details. Anyone with similar problems?
