Greets all.

I'm currently playing with iDeneb 1.4 on a HP NC4200. Almost everything works beautifully to the point that I'm really quite surprised about the functionality of this laptop w/ Leopard.

In fact, the only things that I haven't managed to get going are the SD controller, PCMCIA slot and the IrDA port. ...and I've spent the past two days beating my head against a wall on those.

What I'm asking for here, more than anything, is someone else that's tried this hardware out to let me know if they had any luck with the TI Cardbus controller in a xx4200 system.

As far as I can tell, the NC4200 & TC4200 both use the TI xx21 chip to control both the PCMCIA slot as well as the SD controller. I've not had as much luck in tracking down what controls the IrDA port on these units, but I could swear that I recall that the same chip handles it. It's been quite a while since I got it running under LIRC and my notes have long since scattered to the wind... :)

I've downloaded various kexts, swapped out I/O and Memory ranges, rebuilt permissions and rebooted back to the install CD to replace the original kexts until I finally decided to just script the restore so I didn't have to rm'ing and cp'ing every five minutes. The usual result is that the system simply hangs after discovering and announcing the TI xx21. The second result I get is if I use ~Eureka's combined PCMCIAFamily.kext... and then I just straight up kernel panic. Which is actually a nice and fun break over the other boot hang).

Has anyone had any luck with the xx21 drivers in 10.5.6 on a xx4200 system? If so, could ya show a brother some love... if not, put him out of his misery?

The funny thing here is this... I could really care less about the PCMCIA slot (I don't really need my firewire card and my Cisco 350 doesn't appear to have working drivers anyhow, and it's kind of moot since I've got the onboard Intel 2200 working) and could actually live without the SD card (camera can always USB into the system or I can bluetooth photos via my phone). What I'm actually beating my head over is getting my bloody iRemote thingy to work so I can control Frontrow. :)

Well that and I just hate not figuring out what's wrong.

In the off hand that anyone else needs help with anything other than those items, I'm glad to offer whatever I can. I've been documenting my progress and am putting it all onto my egroupware site, so I'd be happy to offer any documentation I've got.

Thanks for excusing the long ramble. I'm feeling punchy from too much coffee and Sisters of Mercy when I should be out tossing back Guinness and flirting with pretty girls instead.

'night all.
