DjNels
Hi, I'm trying to install OSx86 on my Gateway MX6030 (msiwindosx86) It hangs at "Using 2621 buffer headers"... I've added a 32gb partition in cmd (diskpart > create partition primary id=af size=32000) The partition is unformatted. I followed instructions given by U.C. in this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversi...php/t17420.html Am I better off to just wipe this HD completely and boot from my msiwindosx86 DVD? Any help is greatly appreciated. :-) --- EDIT Well, I didn't have anything on this install of XP anyway, so I wiped the drive clean and booted from the DVD. Used -x and after it loaded all the drivers, i still got the same thing, hung up on "using 2621 buffer headers and 2621 cluster IO buffer headers" Thanks for any help you can offer. DjNels
I did search, and tried applying solutions to solve my problem, I even linked to a thread in my original post if you took time to read it. Beerkex'd
IIRC this is a ACPI/APIC problem, if changing BIOS settings doesn't help, try with the JaS 10.5.4 DVD or maybe the iPC 10.5.6 final. Have you enabled ACPI 2.0 and ACPI APIC in the BIOS? If your install DVD has any kind of ACPI/APIC patch under custom install, try installing again with that option selected. DjNels
Thanks for the reply. I looked in BIOS and there are no ACPI options. I will check to see if I can make this work via custom install in msiwindosx86. With this in mind, that my BIOS does not have any ACPI options, can you recommend the best distro for me? I was going to try iDeneb, but I can do JaS if you think that would be better. Thanks! DjNels
Well, given the info I said in my last post, about my BIOS not having ACPI options, you're still recommending JaS? Just making sure here. Thanks again One last question, heres the entire message it gives up til the point when it hangs, I know it talks about ACPI. I also tried platform=ACPI and platform=OSX86 but neither gave different results. npvhash=4095 hi mem tramps at 0xffe00000 PAE enabled HPET enabled on your system enabling INTEL features Darwin Kernel Version 9.1.0: Sat Nov 17 .................... Beerkex'd
What distro is that? It must be a very old one, it's using a 9.1.0 kernel. I think you should try something else. My previous recommendations still stand. DjNels
It's a slipstreamed DVD for MSI Wind, but it worked on the Dell Mini 9 just fine so I tried it. I'll give the iPC OSx86 universal 10.5.6 DVD a try tomorrow.
