thunder.scripts
Is it possible that usb's ports are the ones freezing OS X? I used to think it was the SATA drive, but I disconnected my USB webcam and now OS X works perfectly. Is there any way to solve it? I'd love to update my iPod in OS X Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16252-nforce4-usb/ Share on other sites
macgirl
I have 6 of the 8 ports connected on my NF4 board, even with my Logitech Cam, so maybe is the webcam or a combination of conflicting kexts. I use my iPod nano without any probs. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16252-nforce4-usb/#findComment-104567 Share on other sites
thunder.scripts
Well, that's weird then. I had my Logitech Cam connected too, and the system froze after a few minutes. If I connect my iPod, it freezes automatically. Is there anything I can disable in the BIOS, maybe? macgirl
I have disabled USB KB and Mouse support in the BIOS, don't know if there is another setting. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16252-nforce4-usb/#findComment-105030 Share on other sites
jape
I too noticed freezes are related to USB ports. In fact they're related to every hardware you can think of. I noticed that using forcedeth (nvlan) makes the computer freeze more often, that having my USB Key connected makes the computer freeze more often too, and even playing songs actually makes my OSX more prone to freeze! So I guess it's still SATA's fault. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16252-nforce4-usb/#findComment-105496 Share on other sites
thunder.scripts
Well, I could update my iPod in OS X, so I'm guessing my webcam is the problem (Logitech QuickCam Messenger). It doesn't work in OS X anyway (Macam didn't work for me), so I don't need to have it connected.
