blue_misfit
Hey folks, So I'm building a hackintosh for a friend, and I'm having a real bear of a time just getting the damn install started! I figured I'd go with an Intel DP43TF, since it's supposed to be very compatible, and is overall just a good board (13 damn screws to get it in the case. NICE) I've been out of the scene for a long long time, and decided I'd have a go with Boot 132, and a retail 10.5.6 DVD. First, I set the BIOS to AHCI mode, since I've heard it's definitely the way to go. Fine, so I burn the Boot 132 image, boot up off it, and I get the Darwin prompt. As instructed, I swap for the Leopard DVD, and push enter. It asks me for the boot device, and no matter what I try (tried 90, 80, etc all to no avail) it doesn't boot. Okay, so I figure, maybe i'll get Kalyway 10.5.3 installed first, and work from there. I pop in the Kalyway disk, and try to boot up, and boom, I get the error: "System config file '/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found. After much fiddling and pure, unadaultered rage, I switched the BIOS back to ATA mode, and things actually start loading! They immediately crash to the log, and the last few error messages I see relate to USBEHCI unable to initialize UIM or something like that, and FireWire being unable to determine security mode. I also see a lot of stuff in there about the JMicronATA controller, which is odd because I don't have any IDE devices connected. I also remember something about a JMicron controller handling some of the SATA ports, so I tried some different SATA ports, to no avail I'm at a loss..... Any ideas? I'm going to try all the other images I can get my hands on.... Thanks in advance!!!!! ~MiSfit Okay, so I also tried iATKOS in ATA mode, and I get a giant vomiting of error messages relating to : SAM Multimedia READ or WRITE failed It actually tries to boot in AHCI mode (unlike Kalyway), but has the same error messages Next up - iDeneb (in AHCI mode) HOLY {censored} IT BOOTS ZOMG There's a lot of error messages in verbose mode... but it actually booted to a GUI installer. I'm trying an install as I type this! Well.. that didn't work. I selected the appropriate packages, but install crashed almost right away. Still trying Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/162310-cant-seem-to-get-any-install-method-even-started/ Share on other sites
