tnaylorj Posted April 11, 2009 Share Posted April 11, 2009 Sorry in advance if I come off a noob, as use my iMac 20 inch (Early 2006) as my primary system, but after a little research and hard work I managed to get Kalyway 10.5.2 to get a successful install with full audio, full networking, and video resolution options but no QE (it's an older Intel GMA 900, I don't see going through the work of fixing it, when upgrading the video card would likely be a better option) on my girlfriend's (her brother's old system) old HP Pavilion a 818n. In turn, her brother recently bough a HP Pavilion a6750f with a AMD Phenom X4 9650 Quad-Core processor and an upgraded NVidia GeForce 8500 GT (512 Mb) video card. After being entirely fed up with Windows Vista (and Windows and general) he opted to have me help him try mod his system into a Hackintosh System. I tried Kalway 10.5.2 (as it has worked best for me in the past), but it wouldn't load the bootloader correctly and kept going into a boot loop. I have since tried the new Leo4All4.1 for AMD processors install, which after realizing the 750 Gb hard drive needed two Mac OS Extended (Journaled) for it to be formatted in Disk Utility and for the partitions to be successfully notice the drive for installation. This lead to a mostly successful install but only one resolution choice for the video card and no QE. I decided then to reinstall the OS after reformatting the hard drive again to deduce the video card issue, but now I can't even load into Mac OS X after install. I feel at a total dead end.... Any recommendations or tips for how to reinstall (and with what customatization options) and get this system to fully function? If I get the system up without video card options I was going to try NVInstaller to maybe fix that issue? Once again I'm using Leo4All4.1 and the system has a AMD Phenom X4 9650 Quad-Core with a NVidia GeForce 8500 GT installed via PCI-Express.
