Fellas,

I come here because I have been unable to do this on my own even though I have read (I thought enough) all about installing Mac OS X on PCs.

In any case, I have an Alienware M17, and it looks like no one on the planet has attempted this as I cannot find ANY information. Here is what I would like (hope) to do:

Install Mac OS X Leopard on an ExpressCard SSD. Now, I don't know if this is possible but I tried to install first on a USB drive, it's an 8GB Sandisk to see if OS X would work. I followed the OSx86 instructions here, but after the installation completes I cannot get it to boot into it. Here is my procedure:

1. Insert USB Key (8GB Sandisk)

2. Insert DVD with Mac OS X. I am using Leo4All V3 (instructions linked by OSx86 here)

3. Restart computer from DVD Drive

4. DVD Loads, and Welcome screen, so I pick English Language

5. Go to Disk Utility, Format USB to Mac Journaled

6. Click on Customize. I left the drivers exactly how it came, except that I picked ATI drivers, and Realtek network driver, and also nForce test (because that's what the article says ???)

7. Click Install

8. It Installs no errors on the USB

9. Restart computer from USB

10. Press F8, then -v, then Enter

11. A bunch of words go by... AGP not detected on at least 4 occassions and then nothing happens.

12. I stop waiting and turn off my computer since nothing happens after AGP errors. Computer doesn't seem to be doing anything. Processor light not flickering.

So what is the problem guys? I know that if you can't help, I should give up this endevour right now.

Of course, I was hoping to have the USB up and running so I can go ahead and safely do the same thing but on a ExpressCard SSD (54) as my computer can boot from this device. In addition I have 2 separate hard drives on my PC, the main HD has Vista and the second HD has Linux. Dual boot no problem.

Most important things (I think):

Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.53GHz

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 x2

Any takers please? Any idea at all will help!

Perhaps I can use something other than Leo4All? Could that be the problem? Or is my problem the drivers I am picking to install? Any idea would be welcome guys I have no clue what could even be close to a solution.

Edit: OK I have tried iAtkos by doing the same procedure as above on the same 8GB Sandisk. It said "Install Failed" due to an unknown error. At least Leo4ALL allowed me to install but wouldn't boot.

Now what? :/

Fellas,

I am confirming that iDeneb v1.4 is the only distro that will work on the AW M17 as far as I know.

Credit to davelewis7 for his dead-on suggestions. Thanks bro.

Everything works out of the box, even wireless. Only thing missing? Install ATI HD3870 x2 drivers
