Wireless help please

Hello,

 

I'm currently running 10.5.2 on my laptop and it's the best os ever. My problem is that I am having trouble setting up the wireless I tried running airport utility but it doesn't pick up my Netgear DG834G. When I tried to plug in a Ethernet cable it still doesn't seem to pick anything up.

 

Any advice on how I can get my wireless up and running is greatly appreciated.
