I have a DFI NF4 Lanparty SLI-DR motherboard, with a SATA Western Digital 74gb Raptor drive attached. After trying to get OSX working on my system for the last week, I finally realized that OSX just doesn't recognize my HD. I tried using a patched DVD installer, and even Disk Utility wouldn't show my harddrive. If I used the DD method, I couldn't boot because it would say "Still waiting for root device".

I finally got the system up and running by installing on my 120GB usb drive, however I am mad cause I cannot access my SATA drive from inside OSX. How would I go about doing it normally (say my SATA drive was being recognized..)?

Also, at the moment, I have to use the BIOS boot menu to boot off my USB drive to get into OSX. Is there anything I can add to my boot.ini file to boot into OSX? I have tried putting the chain0 file on my NTFS partition of my USB drive, but when I select OSX on bootup, the computer restarts.

I had a similar problem with my sata. I found out that in the bios of my mobo (abit ai7) there was an option to set the sata to ide or raid. I had it set to raid so OSX wouldn't load (got stuck on waiting for root device). So after I changed this it booted up no problem.

The sata controller I have is the Intel ICH5R. I also have a pci Sil3114 sata and OSX doesn't reconize it.

Good Luck!
