michaelkahl
I'm considering an upgrade to my Hackintosh. I want to replace my Intel C2D E6420 with a Q9550. Why you might ask? I've been using the E6420 for a couple of years now, I'm doing more virtualization, encoding DVD and starting on Blu-Ray's. This will be a welcomed edition. Is there anything I need to know prior to upgrading? Obviously I'll have everything backedup. I'm currently running iPC 10.5.6 Vanilla Kernel with no updates other than iTunes. Will the Q9550 have issues with OS X? Do I need to be prepared to reinstall with a different kernel? All advice is appreciated. michaelkahl
Opted to go for a Q9400 instead and the upgrade went without incident. All four cores are detected and I have it running at 3.3GHz at stock voltage. Memory is running 821MHz 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v (stock) OS X lists it with an unknown CPU at 3.3GHz I'm running Vanilla Kernel Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/161209-intel-q9550-upgrade/#findComment-1135788 Share on other sites
