hi

the biggest difference in the experience between a hackintosh and a real mac is the startup.

on the mac, we see just the grey screen with the apple. no other useless text, not listing of all components and IRQ ports, no counting how much RAM installed.

just plain, beautiful grey apple.

on the hackintosh, until we get to the "plain, beautiful grey apple" there are dozends of lines already displayed.

a logo from the motherboard company, "press ... to ...", copyrights for this part there, trademarke here, a list of all drives available, all components with the IRQ ports, and then finally, the bootloader (in this case the beautiful chameleon 2.0).

not, i like the chameleon, and it is useful.

i dont, however need to see all the other stuff.

is there a way, to hide all that ugly {censored} befor the bootloader, and leave the display black till the chameleon bootloader?

Yes, reprogram the bios ;-)

And before you ask -- no one will probably help you with that -- you may however ask your motherboard manufacturer for a "nice" version.

There are also other motherboards with custom boot bios options, so you could switch to one of those.

well, beside reprogramming the BIOS of course. i'm not good at assambler

so, the only computer i've ever worked with and had a feature like this was a VAIO computer, which showed the vaio logo until windows "took over".

i've never heard of such a thing, but do you by any chance know one of those boards?

All modern ASUS and Gigabyte boards have that feature, and they come with a user friendly app to change the logo. Change that into a gray screen with an apple in the middle and you're all set.

thats interesting, i have a Gigayte GA-EP35-DS3P

i'll search google if it works with this board.

you do know know by any change the name of the app to change the bios image (would make the search much easier)

[quote name=Beerkex'd' date='Apr 8 2009, 05:07 PM' post='1127471'Gigabyte's app has 'face' in the name. I don't remember, I disable the boot logos first thing.

thanks, i found it, it is called "Face Wizard" ( http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/FileList/NewTec..._facewizard.htm ), and its user interfaces looks that bad, that i'd want to punch the designer in the face ^^

anyway, i'll give it a try when i'm home, thanks a lot
