So I've banging my head against the wall for a while now and I need some help from someone a bit smarter than me.

I've already installed successfully IATKOS 10.5.5 Distro as well as IPC 10.5.6 distro using Voodoo 9.5.0 or 9.6.0 kernel. However, I would really like a vanilla install for obvious reasons. I do have a legal copy of leo but I've yet to successfully install it.

I tried the boot-132 route including building my own bootable dvd but failed and I'm starting to suspect the root of all my problems is the JMicron ATA controller for my IDE DVD drive. Am I correct? Or is there some bios setting I'm missing (I have the default bios settings)? Or is my hardware simply not compatible?

I'm hoping I'm just using the wrong boot-132 iso or modifying it incorrectly.

The furthest I've gotten with a vanilla install is using the BOOT-KABYL-BUMBY.iso and after inserting my Retail DVD I get as far as spinning beach ball cursor that just spins and spins. That's without inserting dsmos. However, when I insert the dsmos.kext into the IMG file the bootloader itself won't boot and it doesn't even get to the darwin screen. I tried the generic.iso which already had dsmos. However, the retail dvd freezes before it even gets a chance to get to the beach ball.. I tried the -v and -f but same problem.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm not picky how I get my a vanilla install as long as I get vanilla install. Willing to try another distro or continue the Retail DVD route. On paper it should work with Intel Core 2 proc and P35 chipset.
