JonnyA
OK I'm relatively new to macs having been a PC user for 15 years or so, I have a macbook Pro and and imac and a gaming PC. Iv'e seen an excellent thread regarding porting previously owned PC games to my mac but would like some opinions on a couple of games. I am looking for a good RPG but cannot decide which to get: World Of Warcraft. Lord of the Rings Online Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning. Info i'm after is: 1. Which of the above are both PC and mac compatible? 2. Which one do you recommend? 3. Can any of these games be played for free or do they ALL need subscription (I have seen WoW private servers - are these free? 4. I have read that the graphics on WoW aren't up to much is this true. 5. I have read that LOTR online is a direct dump onto an existing MMORPG does it suffer from this? 6. The preview for Warhammer Online is awsome hows the game? Many thanks. Splitix
Hello Jonny, The only one out of those 3 games that is mac and pc compatible is World of warcraft. I'll answer all the questions i know. 1. Which of the above are both PC and mac compatible? Answer: World of warcraft. 2. Which one do you recommend? Answer: I Havent ever played the LOTR online so im not sure about that one. Between Wow and War i would have to say it depends on what you wanna do in the game. While WoW is a Great PvE (Player versus Environment) It's PvP (Player Versus Player) is very unbalance. Blizzard is always buffing and nerfing classes but one class will always be over powered. Now with WaR they have an excellent PvP Style. They make it so everyone has an equal chance. But then again there PvE isn't that great. So it depends do you wanna fight dungeons and kill dragons or do you wanna kill other Live people. Both games can do both but each one has it plus and minus. (I choose wow, More of my friends play that) 3. Can any of these games be played for free or do they ALL need subscription (I have seen WoW private servers - are these free? Answer: All these games cost a monthly fee. Private servers our hosted by regular people and are usually free, But free doesnt all ways mean better. Blizzard doesnt support them and if they find out that you play on one and you have a active wow blizzard account it'll be banned. Private servers tend to have very low amount of players and usually have very laggy servers. I don't recommend it. 4. I have read that the graphics on WoW aren't up to much is this true. Answer: wow takes very little to run. It might be why they have some many players, But the better graphics card you have the more smoother the game will run. I haven't had any Problems with the game. I think it all looks great. 5. I have read that LOTR online is a direct dump onto an existing MMORPG does it suffer from this? Answer: I dont know too much about LOTR to answer this. 6. The preview for Warhammer Online is awsome hows the game? Pretty much the same as WoW, Just it has a better PvP Style. Hope this answered your questions. luminum
Ye nice choice i personally play World of Warcraft and love it played it since it came out couple of years ago, and would say to someone who is thinking of starting playing the game is that it may seem slow at the start but once you get to max level theres lots of fun to be had. wether it be on your own or with your friends . you will friends and enemys i love it and wont be stopping for a long time yet cool game to chill out and also take seriously. i would definatly give it a go. being the biggest mmorpg on the market you cant afford to cast it aside. ___________________________ Glaziers - 24/7 Glazing services Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/161004-which-rpg-for-my-mac/#findComment-1138279 Share on other sites
