Fmstrat
Hey guys, I'm about to build a new dual boot Win7/osx86 machine, primarily for CS4 work (Photoshop and After Effects), and have a question on cost for value. Keeping in mind CS4 uses the GPU for accelleration. Here are the options I'm looking at: 1) I currently have a linux Q6600 machine and an old GeForce 8500 video card. I could replace this with a Phenom 9600/4GB-RAM machine, then convert my Q6600 to this new machine since my existing mobo supports OSX with a BIOS change. Cost: $200 2) Just like Option 1, but add dual Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX+ cards in SLI. Cost: $470 3) i7 920, 6GB DDR3 RAM, Single Geforce 9800GTX+, Cost: $960 Thoughts? I'm guessing CS4 will make use of the 9800GTX+ in both single and SLI modes. If I'm wrong on this let me know. Thanks. Fmstrat
Actually.. just realized my existing Q6600 Mobo is a crossfire mobo. I also see SLI and Crossfire aren't supported in OSX86 now. Can CS4 is osx86 still utilize the processing power of the multiple cards for rendering in After Effects without SLI/Crossfire?
