Hi. I am new to the world of Mac but I've done a lot of reading thus far but still have a problem. I've installed 10.5.6 from iPC 10.5.6 Mac OS X Install DVD. Everything went fine but when I try to install any extensions to support my hardware, I always get an error.

For example, I have a Marvel Yukon 88E8001 card which is supported by the skge.kext but I get this:

/System/Library/Extensions/System.kext/PlugIns/Unsupported.kext/Unsupported: Undefined in symbol set: _sha1_hardware_hook

kextload: loaded version 2.4.1 of module com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily differs from requested version 2.5

kextload: a link/load error occurred for kernel extension skge.kext

I checked my IOPCIFamily version.plist file and it says 2.5 is the version but kextstat shows this:

17 7 0x1b469000 0x10000 0xf000 com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily (2.4.1) <7 6 5 4>

Why is 2.4.1 being loaded when the kernel extension is 2.5?

I've searched for the past day and have found nothing to help so I'm hoping you kind folks can point me in the right direction. I have a feeling I'm missing something simple. I've checked the vendor and device ids for these drivers match my hardware.

Motherboard: P5PE-VM (no problem running apps)

Graphics : Radeon 1500 GT (haven't tried to install driver yet but video works okay)

Network: Marvel Yukon 88E8001 (same problem when I try to instlal kext)

Sound: C-Media C8738 (same problem when I try to install kext)

Kernel says: Darwin Kernel Version 9.5.0: Sat Dec 6 19:39:54 IST 2008; Voodoo; Release 1.0 :xnu-1228.7.58/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386

I'm posting this in the Installation group since I think its a general install issue, not a hardware/driver issue.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
