d00m42
So over the past two days, I have done quite a bit of reading and asking about the boot-132 method of installing with a retail Leopard DVD. I have: -A retail DVD -a boot-132 disk that i built custom to avoid the "checksum error" with most of the kexts from macita's iso (I have an Asus P5W-DH Deluxe mobo). With the help of a few people, I was able to get past quite a few errors. That's where the interesting problem comes in... So I can boot the 132 iso, boot the retail DVD, and start installation on a newly partitioned GUID disk. Approximately 40-50 minutes before the install is over (around the beginning), my computer just plain out freezes. The first time I got a kernel panic message with the instructions to restart my computer, but every attempt since then has just resulted in my computer's display just freezing up; the aqua progress bar movement stops, and nothing moves (causing me to have to do a hard restart). Any ideas what could be causing this? I am currently trying to install with the fewest amount of extras possible, I'll let you all know how that goes... EDIT: Disabling extras such as languages and fonts was to no avail... I figured it would just cause the installer to freeze a little later (because it didn't have to install those extra files), and that's exactly what happened :/ EDIT2: I talked to someone who suggested that I try 1st using less than 4GB of RAM because of an issue involving >4GB of RAM and JMicron IDE controllers. System still froze. I tried using a different JMicron driver, but this didn't work either. I even tried making a new copy of my leopard DVD, but that failed as well. All help is appreciated! d00m42 PS: This is my 2nd post since I've returned to the forums, and why is it that no one seems to want to answer my posts? Am I doing something wrong? (I know this post is relatively new, but I have another one in the Post-Install section that hasn't been answered in around a week.) I have been PMing specific people, and some are very open and helpful, but my threads remain empty despite the threads around them are well viewed and answered.
