vxspiritxv
I can only guess I'm not installing it right... I installed 5c88e09705ebde2baf1bf19832bdd37a got the b0 error, set the partition active, got it to boot, but it would get a no smoking like symbol and just stop. Patched it with the b0 fix ect ppf... 671cdd39be9a453313ade09d316b1616 Get the same no smoking like symbol, but if I use the dvd to boot: rd=disk0s1 -V it goes a little further the the 2nd screen, but stalls right away. In -s single user mode, I see a ton of error.... so any ways where are these install options im hearing about to select a kernel. All I am doing is using the diskutititys, partition & erase (before the ppf, didn't have to use erase, but after ppf I did) start the install, walk away for 40min come back to a frozen screen, reboot, and this is where I sit. System: Asus a8n-sli delux nvidia 7800gt 1gb corsair ram pioneer dvd-rw plextor cd-rw Logitech g15 usb keyboard generic ps2 keyboard (tryed with this on and off) logitech mx510 mouse I use linux 24/7 for past 7 years, so I'm not a total n00b to all this. :pirate2: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15957-jas-1046-problem/ Share on other sites
Mac OSX Coder
Not sure if you stated this, but what processor are you using. Secondly, what did you patch it with. Third but not last, have you tried booting in safe mode? (F8 Function). Lastly, try booting in -v (I think) to show kernel panics etc. Take a picture and post it up. vxspiritxv
Ok, i'll do that after work (I work all day ugh) I tryed -V allready, didn't seem to do anything... (got that from the sticky) Haven't tryed lower case -v yet. My processor is an Optron 170... dual core 1mb overclocked 2.5ghz ... newest stuff. Patch I used was: JaS 10.4.6 install dvd ppf (ATI ATA /b0 fix / No need for amd enabler post install ) http://www.demonoid.com/torrents/details/324181/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15957-jas-1046-problem/#findComment-102587 Share on other sites
vxspiritxv
Ok, back from work, played with it for about an hour... Seems I get the "Still waiting for root device" error... common enough in google, tryed all the tips I could find... moved hd from 2nd cable to first cable, took it off cable select... ect ect ect... rd=disk0s1 doesn't work, and that is what the dvd is calling the drive when I boot the dvd. My linux background is telling me the dvd has drivers for my ide where the install does not. If I need to get a PCI controller, suggestions make/brand/model? - Doogie
I am installing the 10.4.6 right now, I got the same problem the first time around I installed the CD, however I forgot to install the patches! I am installing everything right now with a few select patches to see if it helps. I dont get it because 10.4.1 worked great, The other thing is, since this is a laptop I dont have the niceness of easy hardware fixes like most. Jason Dax
vxspiritxv, did you try to disable the core duo support? When I install it in my pc, dual core give me a huge headache... dissabling the core duo did the trick for me. Try it, just to see what happens. Regards. vxspiritxv
Got the latest ISO off TPB ( MacOSX_10.4.6_GoatsecxDVD.iso ). It got the B0 error like the first JaS disk, but fixed using linux fdisk... after that this ISO worked great. OSX booted up, Sound WORKS! Ethernet WORKS! Something is slow on it... takes 10min to transfer 1gig from my server to OSX (I got a gigabit network), I can live with it... but other than that its awsome! Now I just need a video card with Quartz Extreme working. Any PCIe ATI cards work with out hacks? Or at least been tested to work with hacks? Looking at getting an 1800XL All In Wonder anyways.
