man_bites_dog Posted March 25, 2009 Share Posted March 25, 2009 Hi all I have a Kalyway 10.5.5 install perfectly set up. I know I shouldn't mess with it, but I'd like to use the boot options that the new Chameleon EFI offers and also try to update to 10.5.6. How do I go about "updating" my EFI to the Chameleon one. I'm too cautious to just install it and see what happens - I really don't have the time or energy to re-install a perfect setup. I've scouredt his forum and other sites trying to find info on how to go about this but to no avail. Please help. There is also a package that includes the DSDT patcher so you can install everything you need in one shot. The one I use is attached here - It includes the DSDT patcher. I've succesfully installed the new Chameleon EFI and patched my DSDT! Now I'm thinking about taking the leap and installing 10.5.6. What do you think? Is it safe? I first updated Kernel and Bootloader, then ran DSDT patch. I have no issues with it at all. JEB101 Posted March 25, 2009 Share Posted March 25, 2009 When you say you updated the Kernel, what exactly are you referring to? I just updated from Vanilla 9.2 to 9.6 same with bootloader. The Kalyway DVD comes with 9.2 so it's old and dont work with 10.5.6 I would also not recommend updating from 10.5.x to 10.5.6 with combo if you aren't running Vanilla, I have tried with voodoo and had to do a reinstall... Vanilla on the other hand worked wonderful.
