Went to the BIOS, in Integrated Peripherals and set SATA RAID/IDE to AHCI -AND- the other SATA controller setting to AHCI down below. THEN it found the drives. Word to the wise: make sure your Hard Drive is connected to the YELLOW SATA connectors and not the PURPLE ones.

i have already changed the AHCI setting in the BIOS for the SATA RAID/IDE, however i do not have a SATA controller option in the BIOS

also my motherboard (GA EP45-DS3) has only YELLOW SATA connectors, as shown in http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/FileList/Image/...45-ds3p_big.jpg

also im planning to install OS X on the IDE hard drive once i can get it working... will this be a problem?
