bluedragon1971 Posted April 28, 2006 Share Posted April 28, 2006 You don't set a root password during install, because by default the root user is disabled. You have to enable root in Netinfo Manager (in /Applications/Utilities/), and when you do you will be prompted to create a root password. If your local user is allowed to administer the computer (the first user created is allowed to by default), then that user should have permission to copy a kext into the extensions folder, unless you are trying to overwrite an existing file. In that case, it's easier to delete the old file first (which you can do) and then copy the new file in it's place.
