this is a strange issue I am having with my Hackintosh (details in signature):

after updating to 10.5.5 I began getting the "Still waiting for root device" error, though it's not a constant issue: it does that, then I restart it once or twice and it boots up perfectly well.

I have rd=.... in my com.apple.boot.plist file, and I even supply it by hand.

I tried to replace IOATAFamily.kext with the 10.5.4 one (which never had this issue), but all I got was that now I have to boot with -f to bypass the kext cache :P

this is not a major issue because I can get OS X to boot up after a few tries, it's just annoying and if I anyone has a clue to a solution I'd love to hear that :D

I have the same issue. I installed the iPC 10.5.6 and updated to 10.5.7, and I've always had the same annoying problem. I think is a driver/kext realated problem with the... chipset(?). Anyone have any idea?
