Okay so I thought I was going to buy a ready made PC for hackintosh but I now know

that it would be easier and cheaper to build one. This isn't my first build but its my

first build for OS X. And thanks for jdratlif's sub $500 build I used that as a guide.

MOBO - GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L

AUDIO - Integrated Realtek AlC883

GPU - My old ATI Radeon 7500

CPU - Intel Pentium E5300 2.6GHz / or E5200 (any suggestions?)

RAM - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2

HD - SAMSUNG HD502HI 500GB 5400 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

CASE - Rosewill R379-SM Black/ Silver 0.8mm SGCC Steel MicroATX Slim Case Computer Case PSU ATX12V Flex 300W Power Supply

So for installing I already have the iDeneb 10.5.5 release does anyone know if this would for with this system?

I am planning on installing with the iDeneb and then updating to 10.5.6 using a retail disc.

Thoughts, Comments, Suggestions are Welcomed

Thanks

I really don't think that graphic card will work. Check the HCL wiki.

Consider an nVidia or ATI card that works for sure with full QE/CI and resolution switching. For example, an nVidia 8400GS is a good entry level card.

ALSO: the case you chose only takes 1/2 height cards. If you have a full-sized height graphic card, or other PCI cards, it WON'T FIT. Keep that in mind.

That hard drive choice isn't good. $74 and it's 5400 RPM? No stats on the cache? The fact that it has NO user reviews should be a clue.

Looks like drive prices just went up, but consider this:

640GB Samsung 7200 RPM (What any drive you buy should be) and 16MB cache.

This drive was $59 last week- I bought 8 of them for various builds. It's an excellent drive and you're getting 140GB more for the price of most 500GB drives.

You ofcourse also need an optical drive, perferably SATA.

And speaking of which, another problem with the case you chose is it only has 1 SATA connector from the PSU (always check with cases that come with a PSU) If you use more than 1 SATA drive, you'll need to get yourself 1 or more molex to SATA adaptors.

Thanks for the help but after much consideration I think I am going to buy a Dell Inspiron 530 - http://configure.dell.com/dellstore/config...I530_FS_CH53FS8

It has a Quad Core Q8200 for only $599, looks like a good deal
