Gigabyte GA-X38-DS5 motherboard issues

Hi people,

I've been trying to get iDeneb 1.4 10.5.6 to run on my current setup:

 

Core 2 Quad QX6850

Nvidia 8800GTX

Gigabyte GA-X38-DS5 motherboard

 

I've been having trouble getting the system to run after installation, and I think the issues I have are due to iDeneb compatibility with my motherboard.

 

I'm running my SATA in AHCI, and my motherboard has the ICH9R southbridge with the X38 board chipset. THe sound chip is ALC889A.

I've selected all these things in setup and nothing else strange, and made sure not to duplicate any installed kexts, but I still get an unsuccessful 1st boot.

I've been over this about a dozen times to make sure I'm not making some schoolboy mistake.

 

Has anyone had success running iDeneb 1.4 on this motherboard?

Can anyone recommend any tweaks or fixes to get this to boot up?
