jadin7 Posted March 16, 2009 Share Posted March 16, 2009 hey ppl how r u? when i open Time Machine -> Setup Time Machine -> Choose Backup Disk -> It's EMPTY.. so the button 'Use for Backup' is disabled. only 'Cancel' is available. please help me fix it that i'll can use the backup.. thx! peace n love! Beerkex'd Posted March 17, 2009 Share Posted March 17, 2009 You can't use your system partition with Time Machine. Do you have a second drive or partition that's not appearing in Time Machine? You can try creating a device property string for your LAN with Time Machine fix. I'm not really sure what Time Machine fix does exactly, maybe it'll help with your problem. To do this you need to find and download 'EFI Studio' or you can use PCWiz' 'Universal OSX86 Installer'. Find them with google. Beerkex'd Posted March 18, 2009 Share Posted March 18, 2009 I've never used Time Machine. But yes, it's comparable to 'System Restore' in Windows. You're supposed to use a second hard drive, which will then be your "time machine", the idea being that you can go back in time and use your Mac as it was running two days ago for example. Read the manual if you want to know what it is and what it does. There's also something called 'Migration Assistant' in the utilities folder. Did you get it to work?
