Without knowing what drive controller is in your laptop and what you picked under custom install, there's no way to help. Enter the BIOS settings and see if you can enable AHCI on the drive controller. If the drive is P-ATA and the controller is Intel you can try picking the Intel PIIATA Legacy kexts under custom install...if your OSX86 install DVD has it.
