GGC
Hey guys, I've checked the wiki but I can't find the right parts to build a hackintosh. Basically, I'm going for something cheap (around $600/500 euros). I found some parts in the wiki but they are hard to find (especially motherboards and graphic cards (too old)). Can someone help me out please? Thanks y'all! PS: I know there must be many posts like mine so I apologize in advance. chimpoko
I too am in the same situation, I've looked for the Asus P5W, and other hardware, I live a few blocks away from NCIX.com so I use their site to search for the hardware that has been noted in many posts and wiki entries. Unfortunately I can't seem to find the hardware ( either I'm dumb, or the hardware is outdated ). Looking for a good a good out of the box experience with minimal hacking involved. GGC
While browsing, I came up with that build: Case: MAX IN POWER Slim Tour (Micro ATX / ITX - 300W) MB: Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H (GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 9400) - Micro ATX CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 (FSB1066 cache L2 3 MB) Memory: Kingston ValueRAM 4 GB (2x2GB) DDR2-SDRAM PC6400 HDD: Samsung SpinPoint T 320 GB 7200 RPM 16 MB Serial ATA II Optical drive: ASUSTeK DRW-22B1ST SATA The whole thing is about 460 euros/$600. Can anyone tell me if this would be a good build? (I intend to use XxX Leopard 10.5.5 Beta 1 w/PPF3 patch applied) Thanks! chimpoko
I didn't need a Case or HDD so I came up with the following... MoBo: Gigabyte GA-EG31M-ES2L CPU: Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 Dual Core RAM: OCZ Reaper Hpc Edition PC2-8500 DDR2 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-1066 your box will definately out perform mine, but this all came to a total of about $230 CND. your mobo is about $100 more than mine. but the GPU is ALOT better. now I have to re-think if I want the mobo you chose Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/157595-advice-for-building-a-cheap-hackintosh-build-info-added/#findComment-1107627 Share on other sites
GGC
I'm not sure about the MoBo though. I might get the Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H (NVIDIA GeForce 7100) - Micro ATX which is a lot cheaper (like half price). I don't know if it's good for a hackintosh though. I'm not buying anything right now though, just gathering as much info as I can to start the project. And I'm also looking at building something realatively cheap. GGC
Alright, after a lot of research, I think I'm gonna build something cheaper but yet compatible with OS X: MB: Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R (Intel P35 Express) - ATX CPU: Intel Dual-Core E5200 (FSB800 cache L2 2 MB) GPU: ASUSTeK EN8400GS SILENT/HTP/256M - 256 MB TV-Out/DVI - PCI Express (NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS) Memory: Kingston ValueRAM 2 GB DDR2-SDRAM PC6400 HDD: Samsung SpinPoint T 320 GB 7200 RPM 16 MB Serial ATA II Optical drive: ASUSTeK DRW-22B1ST SATA A friend is gonna give me an unused case and I remembered I had an Antec TruPower 330W lying around from my old PC. Turns out the whole thing is gonna cost me 260 euros/US$350!!
