superpimp
Hello, I have just recently installed OS X Leopard 10.5.5 (using iATKOS v5.5i DVD) and I followed the Hack Attack Guide (http://dailyapps.net/2008/03/hack-attack-dual-boot-leopard-and-windows-vista/) on Dual booting. I guessed this would be okay since 7 and Vista are pretty similar. Everything went great (no errors what so ever) up to the point where I have to create a dual boot for OS X. The bcdedit commands work out great (operation succesful messages etc) but when I reboot and I select OS X it boots straight into Windows 7, which is pretty weird. I've tried adding a boot option via EasyBCD but that didn't work out aswell. I also tried a lot of booting options via windows itself and also via the DVD but nothing worked. I'm pretty sure that the install worked out fine because when I go into reinstall via DVD I can see that there's about 6GB of space used on that disk. I've installed it to disk 0 partition 3. I'm using an HP Pavilion dv9520eb laptop. Intel Core 2 Duo CPU Nvidia 9600M GPU 2GB RAM 2x 150GB HDD I think thats all the info you need, if I missed something, just shout I'd really appreciate any help because I really want this to work. Thanks in advance! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/157501-windows-7-and-os-x-leopard-dual-boot/ Share on other sites
whodidat
that guide was made using v.1 and you're using v5.5... Just may be the cause of your problems, search in the dual boot thread to see if you can find a tut that matches your situation better... btw, chain0 has never worked for me, i find it much easier to use separate hd's for each os and choose boot drive during post Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/157501-windows-7-and-os-x-leopard-dual-boot/#findComment-1106446 Share on other sites
Synaesthesia
Easiest way for me with Windows 7 and Vista dual booting was using Easybcd 2.0. Another way was a way in which you fix the MBR by repairing Windows...but EasyBCD works well. SilentViper
i don know if you've figured it out yet but just use the darwin bootloader and select the small 200 mb partition and you will boot fine every time this small partition is almost impossible to corrupt without trying Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/157501-windows-7-and-os-x-leopard-dual-boot/#findComment-1106501 Share on other sites
superpimp
Thanks guys. Using EasyBCD 2.0 I got a little further, I can now boot into OS X but it just blocks and does nothing. I've taken pictures and added in attachement. It seems like a pretty critical error, I probably should just do a reinstall, but I can't seem to find a decent guide for iATKOS v5.5i... Some youtube clips, but that doesn't help a lot as you can't see the commands they're typing The one picture is using -v on darwin boot and the other one isjust regular boot. Thanks so far!
