Rob_Quads
A friend (who has decided rather than help he would enjoy a holiday in South Africa) sent me some files which I am trying to access but the files are in the format; xxx.dmg.001 xxx.dmg.002 xxx.dmg.003 I have tried hjsplit to join them but the resulting file was not valid so guess this is not what he used. Anyone know how to rebuild the dmg file? Cheers Rob Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15673-handling-dmg000-dbg001-files/ Share on other sites

Mackman
Your friend probably used Split&Concat CLICK Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15673-handling-dmg000-dbg001-files/#findComment-100831 Share on other sites
bluedragon1971
They are rar files. No, moron, they are not. .### files are only Rar files if they DON'T have another extension in the filename. Examples: somefile.mpg.001, somefile.mpg.002, etc = split files, usually done with HJSplit or Split & Concat somefile.001, somefile.002, etc = Rar files created by moronic warez groups who don't realize that they'd be better off using the f**king default extensions so they don't confuse people. Also, Split & Concat is fully compatible with HJSplit, so if the user had problems joining the file with one, they would have trouble with the other as well. Most likely, the DMG was split by Disk Utility itself (I've seen this before on some old posts a few years ago). You can simply doubleclick on the first file and Disk Utility should mount the whole thing, no joining needed. bluedragon1971
I've had a similar unsolved problem. Does not mount any file... This was a major issue around here a month or two ago. I believe it was solved by doing a Repair Permissions on your drive. Search the forums for "mount disk image" or something similar, there are plenty of threads around here about it.
