Hi- trying to follow guides posted for installing the retail dvd and I'm having issues:

specs:

GA-EP35-DS3P

Core2duo 2ghz

2gb ram

500 sata drive

Retail DVD 10.5.6

I've created the Boot-132 iso for the board and when get to the part where I'm booting from the retail dvd there's this circle with a hash mark that shows up about 1 minute into loading. Which to me means it's not loading anymore. Essentially it's the international symbol for NO.

All the guides specify 10.5.5 or lower but I've not seen one for 10.5.6 retail DVD. What am I doing wrong? Is this even possible?

Thanks,

CM

When you boot, it should ask you to hit F8 for more options. Hit F8, then at the prompt type "-v" and hit enter. That should give you more detail to work with.

Had bios setting wrong for drives.

Got it installed.

Installed Chamelon installer but have issues...

During boot from the drive up I get an error:

panic (cpu - caller 0x2e166e43) "No Hpets available...CPU(s) configured incorrectly\n"@/Sourcecache/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement -59.0.1/pmthread.c:149

Debugger Called: <panic>.

System model name: EP35-DS3P

That's as far as it goes.

Tried: -f ... locks

Tried : cpus=1 ... locks

Tried : -x locks

Boot from Boot-132, select drive 80, boot ups to desktop and works, Ethernet works, screen resolution messed up but I haven't tried to fix this yet.

Need suggestions for resolving the boot up issue described above. I am soooo close.

OK installed an extension pack for a slightly different bard (GA-P35-DS4) and now the reboot issue described above is resolved. Boots to desktop on it's own without any boot 132 cd.

So this is where I typically screw it up.... I have a Gigabyte GV=NX86T256H GeForce 8600GT card and need guidance with getting it properly set up. I understand EFI, etc but I've had issues with trying to get the right kext for this card installed. I tried nvinstaller .52 , edited with EFI but when trying to edit display settings I get a solid blue screen.

Can someone guide me on this?

Ok... I could not wait so I installed the nvinstaller .52 selected Vanilla, edit boot with EFI for Nvidia 8600 gt 256 and rebooted. AND IT WORKS. Screen resolution correct and CI and QE both supported/enabled. Sleep works, shutdown works, reboot works, Ethernet works, mounting packages works.

Console scrolls the following message...

_CFgetHostUUIDString: unable to determine UUID for host. Error 35

What does this mean?

NOW What.... this seemed EZ.
