I have VIA Chipset, intel cpu with sse3. 2. My onboard sound card works bad and it plays from one chanel. This is Vinyl AC'97. I had similar problems in 10.4.5 with a VIA chipset and resolved it by using the 10.4.3 IOUSBFamily.kext.
