ichjetzthier
Hi Guys! First of all: I'm German, my english is pretty bad, sorry for this. Hope, this will help you nevertheless! I am still kind of a newbee in the OSX86-Project. I would like to install MAC OSX (iPC 10.5.6 final !!!) with the following Setup: ASUS P5Q Intel Core2Duo E7400 @ 2,8Ghz 4GB DDRII RAM 512MB NVidia Geforce 9400GT and a few other things, but they don't seem too important to me, for the moment. As I did not find any helpful threads, I just want to begin one and, after successfully installing the OS, make a tutorial for all the poor souls out in the wide microsoft-spaces (like me), wondering if the P5Q is good for osx... ;-) So, is there anything to watch out for? Two Questions, I still have: Is it necessary to take the patched BIOS? What kernel should I take? Thx a lot!!! marionez
It work out of the box (not really )... oh you didn't find anything Try with this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...mp;#entry971559 and this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1022273 I think you didn't search. Anyway your LAN integrated chip ( ATL1E ) will not work, because there's no kext for this. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=140907 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/156348-ipc-osx86-1056-final-dl-on-asus-p5q-pro/#findComment-1099951 Share on other sites
ichjetzthier
Try with this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...mp;#entry971559and this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1022273 None of th two threads is dealing with iPC. I think you didn't search. I did search, for days and years... ;-) Anyway your LAN integrated chip ( ATL1E ) will not work, because there's no kext for this.http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=140907 Thats, what I see on asus.com: LAN Chipset: Marvell 88E8056. Am I wrong, or is it some other thing? marionez
It's the same of iPC, you need that kext for audio, etc etc. You can very (very) easily use that guide for you iPC. You don't need any special kernel. If you have a P5Q your LAN will not work, whatever is written on asus.com, maybe you don't have a P5Q, but a P5Q-E or other Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/156348-ipc-osx86-1056-final-dl-on-asus-p5q-pro/#findComment-1099964 Share on other sites
ichjetzthier
Okay, thanks for information! I just found a yukon ethernet driver for the P5Q with the Marvell-LAN-Chipset http://######.com/index.php?option=...7&Itemid=74 And I also read in several posts, that the ethernet works! I will try and report. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/156348-ipc-osx86-1056-final-dl-on-asus-p5q-pro/#findComment-1099970 Share on other sites
marionez
If you have yukon you have p5q-E not p5q!! Anyway let's see if someone installed iPC on P5Q (or maybe P5Q-E), will reply this thread When you'll have leopard installed, you should work on your video card: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=141072&hl= And this is the procedure I followed for my 9500gt that's the same with device id and NVCAP changed to yours: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...20&start=20 Edit: you can follow that guide with, bios flashing that's needed for iPC and iDeneb both, but you have to be sure about your mobo model!! ichjetzthier
I am pretty shure about the mobo... Would it be better, to use the p5Q-E? I just like the Idea of getting as much as possible OOB. The final iPC has the yukon driver in package. Did you allready look at this page: http://######.com/ipcosx86/?page_id=201 In the iPC-Setup-Menu, there is a "Marvell 88E8056", the one, thats installed on the P5Q. Am I wrong?? That driver doesn't work on P5Q (because we don't have yukon). Yes it should be better choosing a P5Q mobo series, with supported ethernet lan card, I don't know which model has one of the supported LAN integrated card, but ATL1 works, yukon works, ATL1E does not work.... ichjetzthier
Okay, you won. I just decided, to switch to a P5Q-E, with supported Ethernet, and I am gonna be happy! Anything else to look out for? Thanks a lot for your support! andydenis
I Have a P5Q Deluxe board and followed the link i posted without problems. All works great apart from the sound which is still only stereo but works for me. ichjetzthier
Okay, finally, I got the P5Q-Pro. Until now, everything works fine. The only thing, I can't get to work, is the ethernet. Is there away, to find out, which ethernet-chipset I've got? The kexts for ATL1 don't work, neither do the ones for marvell 88E8056. EDIT: I just found out, that it has to be the Atheros Chipset. Are there some working kexts? Thx! ichjetzthier
Allright, I've got it all working. :censored2: Just one thing: I cannot boot without the iPC-DVD in drive. Is there a way to change this? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/156348-ipc-osx86-1056-final-dl-on-asus-p5q-pro/#findComment-1109802 Share on other sites
marionez
Allright, I've got it all working. Great Anyway as you can read in this thread http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=140907&hl= reader02 is working at an ATL1E kext driver... Just one thing: I cannot boot without the iPC-DVD in drive. Is there a way to change this? That's a strange thing, which kind of error do you have? -v mode? /var/log/system.log ? Did you flash your BIOS with a modded version? ichjetzthier
The Mac OS is not recognized as bootable system/partition. It says somthing like "insert bootable medium and reboot". When the Disc is inserted, everything works fine!
