EGPoulin
So I've acquired a Dell Precision 380 with a Pentium D 960 in it and 8GB of RAM. I've always been a Mac fan (Since OS 7) and unfortunately don't have the scratch right now to pick up a decent Mac. I'm drooling over the new Mac Pro! Anyway, I've been reading up on this and am looking forward to getting this this going. It should be much faster that my wife's iMac CoreSolo. I was thinking about using Munky's method for booting Retail (at least until the new Chameleon comes out). I have a retail Leopard DVD and a completely bare 380 to work with. One thing that I'm not completely understanding is the extensions that I need to find for all the hardware on board. Where do I get these from? I've tried to read many of the how-to docs, but it still is not clear. The Machine is: Intel Pentium D 960 Intel 955X chipset nVidia Geforce 8800GT Sigmatel STAC HD Audio Broadcom 57XX Pioneer SATA DVD-RW Seagate 250GB SATA HDD Dell 2407WFP monitor. Should this work or am I asking for nothing but frustration? Thanks! Bill Brasky
If you're still interested, I just completed this installation with iPC 10.5.6 and it works great. You'll need to manually patch the ethernet driver and I had to use VoodooHDA for audio. I put some notes on the hardware compatibility page here: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...l_Precision_380 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/156307-first-osx86-build-on-dell-precision-380-what-extensions-do-i-need/#findComment-1310222 Share on other sites
