The User
I found a modified BIOS v5.16 for HP Pavilion d5000t (IPIBL-TX) on this site. I successfully updated my system with this BIOS. Now when I stick retail Leopard OS disk in the DVD drive and selected to boot from it nothing happens.. my Vista starts. I thought having modified BIOS was supposed to let me boot using retail OS. Am I missing something?? Thanks in advance. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/156298-install-help-please/ Share on other sites

It's kind of a dsdt fix, but it's hardwritten in bios. Good thing pros do these mods. SO, to answer .. you still need a Boot 132 CD/USB to boot your retail DVD (it's like the disk swap thing in ps2). Or you can buy a Efix Afterwards you need to install a bootloader to eliminate the need for a B132 cd. Please read some of the stickies on this site. They are actually useful Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/156298-install-help-please/#findComment-1104311 Share on other sites

I am back on now, trying to get a HP TX2 running hackintosh, with touch etc working on hackintosh. I don't have the system yet, waiting for a good deal. Anyways, I was one of the first one who used the modifed bios on this motherboard.(Thanks to Order2Chaos who did the mod for me.) So far, 1) I couldn't use the stock DVD, started with Kalyway 10.5.2, updated all the way to 10.5.6 using Netkas method ( http://netkas.org/?p=50) 2) I use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the drive before applying any new updates. I cloned drive boots perfectly. As soon you get you the system up and running, make a clone. 3) firewire is working ( almost, one firewire external harddisk didn't mount, may be some chipset have issues, but all others work, including firewire iSight) 4) Sound was a big issue, but finally got it working, I didnt go for full 5 channel sound, the basic setup is fine for me. 5) Onboard Ethernet won't work, I use a cheap card 6) all 4 cpus are active, thanks to moded bios. 7) ISSUE with running Mac OS X server on VMWare Fusion. VMWare fusion thinks it is a 32bit CPU, though all 4 cores are running. I can install XP on Fusion, not OS X server. Anyways, if anyone having issue, I will try to dig deep into my setup and try to help you. good luck _ Jay Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/156298-install-help-please/#findComment-1148048 Share on other sites
