heyboy2
This is my case, and I hope you have time to read this and help me out. A couple of days ago I downloaded Kalyway 10.5.2. I partitioned my computer and burnt a DVD with Kalyway on it. I followed this guide: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...DualBoot_10.5.2 When I got to the "Select disk utility" part I got stuck. It didn't find any hard drive at all. Only CD-drive and external hard drive. Screw this, I said, and rebooted my computer into XP. I downloaded iDeneb 1.3 and to figure out if this distro could detect my hard drive I booted my computer with this distribution. But it could'n detect any drives AT ALL! Not even my CD-drive. So i rebooted my computer to get inte XP but NO! My comuter was stuck, blac screen and the text: Primary Master : It couldn't find my HDD! I really got scared to death and said to myself: "What am I doing? I'm a noob and I don't know what I'm doing really". Anyway I opened up my computer and took off the cables from the HDD and then inserted them again, and my computer suddenly found my HDD! I was very surprised, and relieved! Why did this happen? Since I tried iDeneb (yesterday) I haven't dared to try any other. I'm not a pro at this but still wan't my PC running OS X. But all the system files that I don't know what they really do, and that has to change is scaring me a lot. I can see Kalyway as the safest since you don't have to select kernel and other customize settings; 'cause I really don't know which to choose, for sure. I don't know if Leo4All would work, and I don't know if I dare trying it. Do you have to select customize settings yourself with this distro? And why isn't kalyway really detecting my hard drive? I'm really tired on this and it's really hard I think. What do you think I should do? Any one who has succeeded with specs similar to mine? My specs: Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-85661FXM-775, SiS 964 Intel Celeron 2,67 GHz Hard disk: SATA 150HDD, 200 GB, (DiamondMax 10) Grafic card: ATI Radeon 9250, 256 MB Sound card: Sound Blaster, SB0220 Network: Etherlink, 3Com RAM: 2x510 MB (Crucial) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/156246-kalyway-no-ideneb-no-please-help/ Share on other sites
aliomattux
Hi, I dont know very much about your board but if the install disk will not recognize your sata drive then try using a different type such as IDE, or PATA. If that works then you can find a patch to get the sata to work and then restore the image using the disc utility. When OSX loads the install dvd it only loads a certain amount of drivers so alot of people have problems right from the get go with all types of hardware. The best bet for you would be to do more research about your board and see if others have the same board with issues. Also if you download a variety of osx install discs then you have more to play with. Try ideneb 10.5.6. You could also easily install the os to a flash drive or an external hard drive. I have found that to be the easiest method because I can easily port it over to other machines. Check the wiki HCL guides for your board and make sure you get a copy of chameleon boot loader. It is a free installer package that you can use if you decide to install on an external drive and then do a copy over. If you do use ideneb use the voodoo kernel, it is reliable for a variety of hardware and you MUST select a chipset driver as that is probably where alot of your issues are. Hope that helps. heyboy2
Hi,I dont know very much about your board but if the install disk will not recognize your sata drive then try using a different type such as IDE, or PATA. If that works then you can find a patch to get the sata to work and then restore the image using the disc utility. How can I use a different type as IDE of PATA? I mean, my HDD is a SATA, I cannot change that, can I? Through a converter or what? (I might be stupid but I'm not that good at this). I have a mother board called Gigabyte GA85661FXM-775. Does a guide work with this type Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3, or does the final numbers and letters matter? Or is the "Gigabyte GA" the most important? You say: "Try iDeneb". I don't know. When I tested 1.3 my computer didn't find my HDD and things like this scares me to death. I don't want to make my computer not work. It feels scary... And changin kernel files etc. feels scary as well because they might destroy my computer... I have an external hard drive; but this is where I do my backup and I don't really want to destroy these files... It feels hard. Thank you for your answer.
