syphilis
Finally got install working good. I used kalyway 10.5.2 on a Gateway MD7818u. All I had to do was reboot into single user mode post-install and after making a password for root, 'touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone' got it all working. The only issue now is in trying to get this laptop's mouse and keyboard to work The mouse had been working until I copied a file called ApplePS2Controller.kext into the extensions folder, and repaired permissions. Now I have to use an external mouse as well as the external keyboard I'd been using. I imagine I just need a different kext. If anyone knows which kext I need for this I'd apreciate it. It's a Synaptics touchpad, and standard laptop keyboard. Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/156165-laptop-keyboardmouse-kext/ Share on other sites
Synaesthesia
Get Pacifist and install the one you were using from the DVD. It was obviously working. syphilis
keyboard and mouse are now working For the sake of posterity and for anyone else with a Gateway MD7818u laptop this is what it took to get osx86 installed: use kalyway 10.5.2 and include kexthelper and intel gma support found under the customize menu install completed without a hitch USB keyboard to complete post install which entails booting with -s parameter at single user prompt: /sbin/fsck -fy /sbin/mount -uw / passwd root touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone reboot after reboot, still using usb keyboard, download the attached PS2Controller.kext.zip and unzip it. open kexthelper and use it to install the kext, reboot, and all is good note: i disabled legacy USB support in my BIOS, I dont know if that is needed or not, but im not switching it back ;p issues: intel wifi 5100 card not yet working resolution is at 1024x768 webcam not yet working here is kext for keyboard: http://rapidshare.com/files/206195019/Appl...r.kext.zip.html sorry for using rapidshare, but the attachment window is not loading here, and ifile.it does not seem to want to work for me Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/156165-laptop-keyboardmouse-kext/#findComment-1100392 Share on other sites
