FatMike
Hi I just installed OSX 10.4.6 successfully on my Intel Box and i can dualboot with a Gentoo-Linux Installation now. I want to use my biggest partition on my hdd for my music files, so it should be available in OSX AND LINUX. I tried to use the ext2 filesystem but my OSX can't mount it. Now i tested to format it with fat32 and it worked. But for a 160 GB partition fat32 isn't the best choice, i think. What other possibilities do i have? thnx fat Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15587-osx86-and-linux-harddrive/ Share on other sites
snackole
I know it's possible to read HFS+ in Linux but I'm not sure how. You the check forums for your Linux distro and you'll most likely find the answer there. P.S. If you figure it out please post back with a brief how to. Christoph Pfisterer
in the osx hd-ultility, i can format a partition with UFS (Unix File System)what is this? UFS is a leftover from OS X's BSD heritage. It is generally considered obsolete and won't get you anywhere. Music files are quite large (2 - 10 MB each), so the overhead from FAT32 won't make a significant dent. (It would be a different story if you were talking about, e.g. software development, meaning lots of small files.)
