Hey everyone,

I read this somewhere but i didnt bookmark the site: installing leopard via usb completely without using another mac. Nearly every tutorial that includes usb instructions says to use a working mac to format/write/make-bootable the usb. I was wondering if someone can post instructions/link.

THank you very much! =]

Edit: ok, now im gonna try using tiger on vmware, still waiting for the download...

Edit 2: ok, thank you for all of your creative responces =]...

1) Download all required software: I made a zip file that contains hp usb disk storage format tool, win98boot files, and Leopard hd install helper v0.3 http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=b075271...04e75f6e8ebb871 you also need your favorite install .iso I suggest iATKOS 5i

2) Extract Downloaded Archive

3) Install hp usb disk storage format tool (SP27608.exe)

4) Plug in USB drive and open hp usb disk storage format tool

5) Select Device, FAT32 File System, Check Create a DOS Startup Disk, Select the bubble for "using DOS system files located at:", browse to and select win98boot folder and hit start

6) Once the disk has formatted open up Leopard HD Install Helper v0.3 by running ddmac.exe

7) Familirise yourself with the interface by viewing English_GUI.png which is included in the folder.

8) Select ISO image, uncheck write box, select USB drive (ignore any errors generated), recheck write box, click start.

9) DONT DO ANYTHING! Don't even move your cursor untill finished (about 10-15mins) or the program will freeze. If this happens go back to step 3 and start again.

10) Once the image is coppied to the USB drive reboot with device in.

11) Enter BIOS setup and change boot order to boot from your USB drive.

12) Your machine should reboot and load OS X installer

13) From there follow the install directions listed for your distro, iATKOS 5i instructions can be found here http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/viewtop...802&start=0

jus follow all of the directions exactly as i copied them and u'll have a flash drive with an install image of leopard on it =]
