Hello!

I have succesfully installed Mac OS X 10.4.6 from the patched JaS DVD. The graphics work okey with minor glitches when scrolling (Radeon 9800PRO 256MB). Sound also works great (AC 97). But it doesnt recognise my Netgear WG311T as airport.

I searched the forums and found that this card should work, so what is my problem?

This is really the only thing keeping me from using OSX instead of Windows XP. I am a little confused what to do with Kext. I have IO81122family.kext in the Extensions folder should I do something else?

Solution to this is Greatly appreciated!

Thanx.

Well I guess nobody have this card but Hector, I have solved it.

I just installed OSX 10.4.5, patched with M-mans ownage, instead and now everything works. I am very pleased with my system now, if they only fixed the Ati driver so scrolling wouldnt make artifacts.

Hope it solves your problem to.

I had the same problem with my Atheros-based SMC card which works perfectly under 10.4.5. Another problem I noticed was that the flashy OpenGL effects in Dashboard didn't work.

I also re-installed 10.4.5 and then applied the 10.4.6 upgrade package separately. Doing this kept my Airport working and the flashy effects of Dashboard. Must be a problem with the JaS 10.4.6 DVD...

How can you apply the 10.4.6 update without screwing up your system?

How can you tell if the flashy effects work, what are they? Is it worth it to upgrade to 10.4.6 ?

By flashy effects, I refer to the (what I think is OpenGL) animations some apps use. For instance, in the dashboard if you click on the little "i" on the bottom right-hand corner of the clock, it should spin around. You should be able to see the clock rotate almost in 3D as it turns over. Another example is right after the initial install, each page (asking what country, etc.) should "flip" over as you continue through.

When I loaded ths OS from the JaS 10.4.6 DVD, these flashy effects ceased. Clicking on the "i" on the clock just caused the clock face to fade into the back of the clock. No spinning. Likewise during the initial install, the screens didn't do a flip transition into the next screen, they just disappeared and were replaced with the next screen.

To resolve this, I just installed the 10.4.5 from the 10.4.4 + patch Myzar DVD and then I installed the hacked MacOSXUpd10.4.6Intel pkg I got via BitTorrent. To be honest, I don't really notice a difference with 10.4.6.
