Synaesthesia
They allocate more or less system RAM to the graphics. Although to confuse the issue, I've heard that nVidia is gonna make a variant of the 9400M with it's own VRAM. Still integrated & everything. The Low end model 20" and Low end 24" are the best value IMO (as usual) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/155816-new-imacs-and-mac-minis/page/2/#findComment-1100720 Share on other sites
Technobob
Can the amount of system RAM that the graphics uses be changed or is set at the factory. I thought of a iMac 24" but the problem I have is space, it's tight so both of my systems now share one 21" monitor. To add an iMac it would cost me another $500 to add a VESA monitor arm, I have no desk for it to sit on. Synaesthesia
Can the amount of system RAM that the graphics uses be changed or is set at the factory. As far as I can tell, if you upgrade the iMac to more than 1gb of RAM, it will set the Video card to 256mb. It does in the new Mac Mini. http://www.hardmac.com/news/2009-03-06/#9709 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/155816-new-imacs-and-mac-minis/page/2/#findComment-1100871 Share on other sites
Technobob
Thanks Synaesthesia for the info I was worried I'd be stuck with 128mb. I looked at the cost to upgrade and for the price difference between the 2 models I can add 4GB RAM with a 500GB hard drive.
