Dougal
Hi, I've installed JAS 10.4.8 on my PC. Specs are as follows: Intel P4 3.0 ASUS P4R800-VM 1Gb PC3200 memory 250Gb IDE HDD IDE DVD-RW While trying to start the installation I ran into the 'Waiting for root device' error, my DVD drive was at this point on my secondary IDE channel so I moved it to my primary IDE channel as a slave, and to my surprise this worked. After installation I also encountered a problem trying to start the system, I removed the NVidia Geforce FX 5600 card I had installed and switched back to my onboard graphics and it booted fine. Only problems are as follows: - My network card doesn't work (tried both the onboard one, and an RTL8139C I had lying around). How can I get these working? - I moved my DVD drive back to my secondary IDE channel. Now it doesn't seem to be detected in OSX. Why not? Do I need to install some special drivers for my chipset to make the secondary channel work? I'm pretty sure my board uses an ATI IXP chipset. - How can I get my Nvidia graphics card to work? (Not so bothered about this for now). - I have a C-Media CMI8738 soundcard. What are the chances of getting this to work in OSX? (As above). I know I'm very close to having it fully working now, and I'm quite excited! Cheers.
