sk3tch
I am using a Lenovo x61 (non-tablet) with an Ultrabase. I installed iDeneb v1.4 OS X 10.5.6. Unfortunately my cd rom is not being detected. It doesn't show up under disk utility either. Any suggestions? Thanks. sk3tch
Anybody? I've read that some people have it working out of the box. I guess I'm not that lucky. Do you need me to post something to help you help me? thorazine74
Drives missing normally means the controller they are connected to is not detected by OS X. Try finding out which ide controller (vendor and device id) the machine has using PCIUtils (or from OSX86Tools) or DPCI Manger Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/155696-lenovo-x61-cdrom-not-recognize/#findComment-1096224 Share on other sites

sk3tch
So I'm assuming that the Cd Rom is one of these two interfaces, probably the IDE one. So what do I do next? 00:1f.1 IDE interface [0101]: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) IDE Controller [8086:2850] (rev 03) 00:1f.2 SATA controller [0106]: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) SATA AHCI Controller [8086:2829] (rev 03) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/155696-lenovo-x61-cdrom-not-recognize/#findComment-1096721 Share on other sites
thorazine74
Try using this IOATAFamily.kext from Dune. Use OSX86Tools to install it and keep a backup copy of original IOATAFamily.kext just in case. Its strange though, that device id its already supported in vanilla Macs... sk3tch
Suhweet! That did it. Thanks for the help! How would one go about learning how to tweak or make kext so that I can contribute to this forum?
