Hi there!

I'm puzzeling out days now how I could make my damn self made PC compatible with an 10.5.6 OSx86 installation. I have a "Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe" Motherboard (newest BIOS), nForce 4 chipset with an AMD Athlon 3000+ processor (i know this pc is on the down-slide :-) but anyway...) and a "Nvidia Geforce 6600 GT", 128mb graphics card. RAM: 2x512mb.

The main Problem is: I have one DVD drive at IDE but 4 hard discs at SATA! On the first SATA drive with 80GB, I want to install OS X. That means I cannot install the OS X on an IDE hard disc, only on SATA!

So I installed an "iPC 10.5.6" version with AMD/Intel support and SSE2/3. I used these packages in the Customize list:

graphic card: nvinject 0.2.1 128mb [think this works]

audio (built-in): AC'97 (for ALC850) [also think that works]

chipset: AppleNforceATA

ethernet: forcedeth [also think that works]

kernel: voodoo

So at the first run I tried it but the spin wheel rotates after restart before a stop sign (circle and diagonal line) appears. So I tried everything also with boot switches -f -v,... (edited afterwards also boot.plist with -f -v switch) l, did also many re-installations without and with the rest of the hard discs. I formatted the installation disc mostly non-journaled but upper and lower case. And after everything I had a shot at this tutorial: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=37238

After building this with a Mac OS X my PC still doesnt work. Also when I put again the rights for the files with an Ubuntu live CD. But I remarked: it is coming further. It is recognizing the installation hard disc now. But it still says "disk1s1: data underrun". It is also very weird that OS X suspends my 3 other hard discs when it boots up and afterwards turns them on again. Besides my bootloader was not working with some installations, I had to boot in with the DVD.

In many forums, I have read that the A8N-SLI should be used with other releases. For example Zephyroths and iAktos. Is this working with these releases? What do you think is my problem. What is the missing clue here? Do you have any suggestions? Could anyone please help me.

I appreciate your help. Thanks in advance!

You can boot in safe mode (-x option), then in terminal tape sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext. It will remove you ACPI_SMC error but you will boot with other error. I have the same pc as you (same motherboard, same GPU) and still did not succeed in installing ipc.

Chris

I'm on a A8N-SLI with the same cpu and I'm running ideneb 10.5.6 with no problem so far, although I'm running leo from a IDE HD, you never mentioned your disk interface. Also, if you're using a sata disk you should connect it to the nforce ports, cause your motherboard also have an extra sata controller.
