pezfrahelvete
Ok, so i have been searching the forum alot to find a solution to my problem, but I haven't been able to solve my problem, my hopes are that anyone can explain to me what have gone wrong with my OSX and hopefully give me the solution The problem is: I run JAS OSX 1.4.8 on my compaq nx6110 notebook and it all works beautifully after some tweaking. So i decided to delete my NTFS Windows partition and convert it so I could use it as an extra hard drive in OSX instead. I did this by booting my install dvd and delete the disc and convert it using the disc utility. I worked, but when I restart I get the "System config file '/com.apple.boot.S/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found" So I tried to repair my OSX disc in disc utility without success. I tried I to change boot order in bios without success and it is all driving me mad. I also tried to change the main boot device in the boot.plist but OSX won´t boot from my HD anyways. The only way that i can boot into my osx desktop is by starting the computer with the OSX dvd, pressing f8 like a crazy person and then choose my precious OSX disc to boot from. Now, if I boot my computer without the cd I only get a blinking square in the top left corner and nothing happens. So I am stuck to booting with the cd and pressing f8, which of course is not a smooth way to start up your OS. Please, can anyone help me restore my settings so that my computer will automatically boot OSX from my harddrive again? I will be extremely happy with some response, since this is too annoying and I really don't want to reinstall all my stuff again. Thanks! //Pez fra helvete Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/155278-cant-boot-without-install-dvd-and-f8-command/ Share on other sites
myosxhp
It wont restore all your settings but I was able to fix an issue like this by downloading the Chameleon-1.0.11-installer onto a flash drive, then booting into osx witht the disk in the drive and loading the dmg file while in osx then simply taking the disk out and rebooting. The bootloader automaticly fixed all the issues and allows it to boot into osx with no problems.
