autolysis
I'm having the dreaded problem of losing trackpad and keyboard after upgrading from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3. The image is kalyway 10.5.2 and the machine is HP Pavillion DV2745tx (the DV2700 family). trackpad and mouse worked fine with default install but after installing the combo pack with the upgrade guide (that removes a kext file and editing a string), it's not working anymore. I tried various guides on the forums and none of them worked at all. Also, I have some confusion about why some threads seem to suggest installing PS/2 kext files will solve trackpad (and onboard keyboard) probmem??? E.g. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=152500 and http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=117359 Thanks a lot guys. P.S. subsequent upgrade to 10.5.6 makes no difference Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/155079-what-has-ps2-got-to-do-with-trackpad-and-keyboard/ Share on other sites
derekreid
The keyboard package put together by PCWiz should fix it for you (the second thread you posted). Make sure you don't install both packages. Maybe repair permissions in Disk Utility after installing just in case. The internal keyboard and trackpad of laptops work via a PS/2 connector I guess. After upgrading, the default kexts you had that were working were probably replaced by Apple kexts. Now you have to put hacked kexts back to get your inputs working again. Good luck.
