I've done some searching on the forums and I've seen people post some successes with getting the onboard wireless cards to work with the IBM Thinkpad T42p.

I have 10.4.6 (myzar) running on my thinkpad and everything works except my onboard wireless. I am using a Belkin 7010 for wireless right now.

Everything else seems to be pretty smooth.

Any recommendations on how to get the onboard card working (Intel 2200 BG).

Any help? Anyone?

I know there's been a lot of talk/issues with the Intel 2200, but I've seen like 3-4 posts on this forum from people who say it works...

Well, I hacked my T40 BIOS, replaced 2100BG with an Atheros wireless and it was recongized as an Airport card. Works great too with WEP 128bit!

Bruce

how exactly did you do that ?

have you replaced the actual card or just the name ?

Of course I replaced the actual card. Since IBM locks their wireless card in BIOS, it won't boot (Error 1802) after replacing with cards of other brands if BIOS is not hacked. More information/patch can be found on Google, just search "IBM 1802".

Can you tell me exactly the steps you went through (partitioning, vmware or not, etc)? I tried installing on a t43 about a month ago and couldn't get past the "still waiting for root device" problem.

Thanks -Steve
