focusedfreedom
Hi all, I'm preparing for my first build. I've been reading these forums and was also encouraged by two other sites: http://basshead.wordpress.com/2008/02/05/hackintosh-part-1/ http://rogersmj.com/2008/03/26/goodbye-imachello-hackintosh/ I've ordered the parts and some have already arrived. What I have is: eWiz.com - (1/23/09) Samsung HD103UJ 1TB SATA2 7200rpm 32MB Hard Drive = $89.99 - $6.30 CB = $83.69 buy.com - (2/17/09) IntelBOX PENTIUM DC E5200 2.5GHZ 2M 800FSB S775Component- Processors = $64.99 - $0.65 CB = $64.34 newegg.com - (2/19/09) HEC 6K28BBX585 Black 0.8mm SECC Steel MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case 585W Power Supply = $54.99 - $1.65 CB = $53.34 newegg.com - (2/18/09) VGA PNY VCG8400SXEB 8400GS 256M RT - Retail = $29.99 - $15 RB - $.82 CB = $14.17 newegg.com - (2/21/09) OCZ Fatal1ty Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory = $63.99 - $40 RB - $1.76 CB = $22.23 buy.com - (2/20/09) GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L LGA 775 Intel G31 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard = $56.24 - $0.56 CB = $55.68 newegg.com - (2/23/09) LG ElectronicsGH22NS30DVD Recorders = $24.99 - $0.69 CB = $24.30 newegg.com - (2/22/09) COOLMAX ES-200 eSATA PCI Bracket Cable - Retail x 2 = $8.97 monoprice.com - (2/21/09) 4 PORT VIA IEEE-1394 FIREWIRE CARD KIT w/ Software and Cable = $10.21 This totals $336.93 I also plan to order the Mac Box Set for another $150. I hope to be able to do a retail install as much as possible. I realize there will be learning pangs along the way. I hope none of the above are show stoppers and I chose the Gigabyte board simply because it will hopefully make things go more smoothly. I'm a Mac fan. We needed a new Mac for the kids to use but a Pro is out of the question. The iMac is too limiting and costly! I will keep everyone posted on how it goes. I plan to take pictures and document the process for others to learn from. If there is some guidance you could provide before I get started that will very much be appreciated too. Take care. -- FF Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/154662-preparing-for-my-first-hackintosh-build/ Share on other sites
focusedfreedom
Hi all, Unfortunately I'm running into problems. I used the boot 132 with modified kext iso (generic.iso) and followed the instructions to get retail Leopard to install. I was able to install but instead of rebooting the screen went black after it was installed. I restarted with the boot 132 cd in again and entered the number for it to start up with (80, in my case). However, all I'm getting is a black screen once it gets past this point. Does anyone have any ideas on what to try next? I've searched and can't find anything. It's like my graphics card isn't supported and I can't see anything. Thank you very much for your help. -- Jeff Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/154662-preparing-for-my-first-hackintosh-build/#findComment-1101925 Share on other sites

dlp
Hi there, Try to install kalyway 10.5.2. and look if your system even could run mac osx. I think if you want a flawless installation with original dvd's u need this EFI X http://www.efi-x.com/index.php?language=english Without it, it will be a big adventure to get it working ! Costed me one full week on my gigabyte 965p ds3 ! but now i got a 100% working system. The biggest challenge is to find the driver that suit your system.... or sometimes rewrite them yourself ! Good luck with your hobby mac system Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/154662-preparing-for-my-first-hackintosh-build/#findComment-1106910 Share on other sites
