iCF-74 ToughMac
Am I understanding hardware encrypted HDD's correctly? They all seem to require booting from an existing HDD. IOW's you need to be able to access them thru a GUI running on a windows (usually) partition. In a perfect world I'd like to be able to boot into OSx off an external and hardware encrypted HDD WITHOUT my Toughbooks existing HDD being installed. (It just slides out...) When I'm in the SUV and it's mounted, I have the laptop secured, but rather than slide out the removable HDD when I leave the vehicle I'd like to have an encrypted drive going...preferably 256 bit. That way if some crackhead goes ballistic, my identity will remain mine. Does this sound doable? Booting via USB to an ext. hardware encrypted HDD in the absence of any other HDD?
