shjeeper
I've searched around and most of the motherboards that have been said to be compatible seem to have been discontinued.... So this is a post to those that have built a system that runs OSX. If it's intell, I'd prefer something cheap, I'm an AMD guy, thus I have no real need for an intel machine other then to play around on. If there's a recent AMD setup that has been known to work that'd be great. My most recent build is a Biostar ta790gx 128 with a dual core proc. I've tried everything I could think of but to no avail. Intel builds need to be decently cheap, say no more then $200 for motherboard and cpu. If it's an AMD setup the price doesn't really matter as most likely I'll just need to grab a motherboard and use what I've already got laying around.... All that really matters is the LAN, if sound or usb doesn't work I'm sure I'll live. Thanks! lord_webi
best stable and compatible board will be still Asus P5W DH ... you only have to change 3 Kexts for a retail install ... ok, it is old, but for me it is a 100% "Mac" ... for AMD you never can have a vanilla install ... bigpoppa206
I agree, I have 2 Asus P5W DH Deluxe's and they are rock solid. Also the new Gigabyte GA-EP45C-UD3R is looking really promising and is at the heart of my latest build. shjeeper
The problem is most of those boards are extremely outdated anymore... I'm having trouble finding boards a year old, it'll be even harder to find something even older. That's why I asked for more recent builds. Thanks though! And thanks for those motherboards, that Gigabyte is still for sale, hoping to find something a little cheaper though... The processor it requires... at least $164. oh well, we'll see. Anyone else got a recent build? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/153985-best-motherboard/#findComment-1086232 Share on other sites

stellarola
Anyone out there with an AMD system that's relatively recent? If you plan building a hackintosh don't use AMD. It's that simple. -Stell Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/153985-best-motherboard/#findComment-1086542 Share on other sites

Anyone else got a recent build? You'll see however that that will change with the next mac refresh. When the new mac mini's, mac pro's, or imacs are released, they'll be using very recent updated chipsets that will then have native apple drivers. Everyone is predicting a refresh soon, I'd say hit up ebay for any of the older boards, or just wait a little bit for a refresh and see what chipsets are used and what newer boards will become compatible.
