timagain
I have been trying to install Kalyway 10.5.2 ( version 1.3 i believe ) and I have some problems just getting started. I am a total noob to installing osx so please excuse my ignorance. System specs AMD Phenom X4 9850 2.5 quad core. Asus M2N-SLi motherboard with Nforce 560 Chipset 4 Gig DDR2 800 mhz OCZ memory XFX Nforce 9600gt 512 MB 100 GB PATA HDD (apple install drive) 200 gb, 500gb SATA drives (windows and stoarge) PCI X-Fi Soundblaster card PCI-e 1x WinTV Captrue card. For the sake of testing SATA drives are disconected for right now. I went into bios and made sure that my IDE HDD was Primary Master and DVD Drive was Secondary Master. I burned Kalyway to dvd then restarted my system with the disk in the drive. My system boots off of DVD some text pops up like 0000000! then i get the boot prompt. I press any key and the system starts loading off the Dvd. This is what is says: Loading Darwin /x86 Loading Kernel mach_kernel Loading HFS+ File [mach_kernel] from 422d690. Loading HFS+ File [mach_kernel] from 422d690. LoadDrivers: Loading from [/system/library/Extensions......(thes dots are here cause i used a video Loading HFS+ [/system/library/Extensions.......................camera to captures this and i didnt get Loading HFS+ [/system/library/Extensions.......................whole screen) Then the system does a hard reset. It does flash somthing in yellow thats to fast to see when the system restarts. So i used a video camera to try and capture it and all i could get was "EFI Enhanc " before the next frame is black. Any one know whats going on here? Is there a way to stop the system from reseting so i can see what the error is or a way to captrue the text output? I read somewhere that i should use the sleepkernel i tryed loading it by hiting F8 and typeing "sleepkernel" then the press any key screen appears again, I press any key, the loading text comes up like before and again i get a hard reset. I am a noob but have tried this before a while back on a A8N-E(nforce 4) and i seem to remember having an issues the partitioning the drive. I think it was deleting the old partitions from within OSx. On this install I used Windows disk manager to wipe the old Linux install off this PATA drive is that OK or could that be messing something up. My next test will be removing the PCI and PCI-e cards see if that helps Will onboard lan and onboard audio work? Lan is listed as a nForce 560 SLI MCP built-in Gigabit MAC and the audio is a Cmedia 7.1 not sure on the chipset number. Thanx for the time and help guys. lord_webi
Kalyway 10.5.2 is not the best choice for AMD ... try Zephyroth or better iDeneb ... use S-ATA dvd device, switch to AHCI in your bios ... and sorry, I heared a lot of problems with the Phenom cpu ... DifferentialPsychosis
I have a very similar system to yours and i have been having trouble installing osx86. Here's my specs amd x4 9850 m2n sli deluxe mobo w/ nforce 570a chipset 9600gt video i started off with iDeneb 10.5.6 and didn't have much luck. then i read that others had successfully installed kalyway 10.5.2 on my motherboard so i tried that with no luck. i learned about the ide problems so i now i have a ide master hd and slave dvd rom but still no luck. i went back to tyring iDeneb with this configuration and it installed fine but on the first boot i would get a black screen or hard reset. i tried again with the voodoo kernel and it installed fine but would get to the grey apple logo with the moving dial and just stay there forever. i tried it with the amd patch instead of the voodoo kernel and i get to the same grey apple logo and it works for a while and then i get a circle with a line through it over the apple logo and it stays there forever. i think it will work with iDeneb if i can just pick the right customization options. anyway let me know if you have any luck since we have such similar systems.
