vectorskink
Hi guys Been reading forever and stumbled across a great guide for total noobs the other night on this forum, but for the life of me can't find it again. I have ideneb 10.5.6 installed successfully (well, it only runs in safe mode). I have the following PC hardware: Asus P5B-Deluxe Wifi which has: Intel P965/ICH8R chipset JMicron JMB363 Marvell Yukon 88E8001 LAN Realtek RTL8187 wifi TI firewire ADI AD1988B sound I have a LeadTek nvidia 7900GTX 512MB PCI-E dual DVI video card. Monitors hanging off it are a Dell 2408WFP and a Benq FP202W. If I boot without the -x flag it complains with the following: display: family specific matching fails then displays a blue screen momentarily, then a black one with either a mouse pointer or a multicolor spinning wheel. It stays like that indefinately. I am a TOTAL noob, and trying to understand how to get hardware recognised and working. I am happy for you to direct me to a guide for total noobs! Thanks heaps!!!
